Description

A wide drum of faux silk sits close to the ceiling here, finished in a soft nude beige on the outside and lined in a paler moonlight tone that lifts the light as it falls. At 40cm across it reads as a proper shade rather than a small ceiling fitting, and the satin nickel metalwork keeps the look quiet and cool against it. We like it for rooms where a pendant would hang too low but a plain flush fitting would look mean.

It suits bedrooms, landings, hallways and sitting rooms with ceilings that will not take a drop, and it works well on a landing where headroom matters. One E27 lamp does the work, and a GLS shape is the one we would reach for so the lamp sits neatly within the shade. It will dim, given a compatible lamp and a dimmer switch on the circuit, which makes it easy to soften late in the evening. Rated for dry indoor rooms, it is not one for bathrooms or covered porches.

Construction is straightforward: dual-layer faux silk on the shade, satin nickel on the metal parts, a finish that stays soft rather than mirror bright and shows fingerprints far less than chrome.
