Description

A grey fabric cylinder sits on a polished chrome plate, held close to the ceiling so the light reads as a shaded fitting rather than a bare lamp. The shade is 40cm across, broad enough to spread a soft ambient wash through a room, and a frosted diffuser closes the underside so the lamp is not in direct view from below. A white laminate lining inside bounces light back out through the weave. The cylinder shape is plain, with no taper and no trim, which is part of why it is easy to live with.

We reach for this in rooms where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a bedroom with a lower ceiling, a small hall, a study or a box room turned into an office. You get the softness of a fabric shade without the drop, and the chrome sits happily against white paint, pale grey walls or the frame of a mirror. It suits anyone who wants gentle light overhead and table lamps at seat height for reading. A single E27 lamp does the work, and it will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. We would fit an LED GLS of up to 20W here.
