Description

Faux silk in a soft nude beige wraps the outer face of this shallow drum, with a moonlight lining inside that warms the light as it passes through. The shade measures 40cm across, wide enough to read as a proper shade rather than a cover, and the antique brass frame holds it up close to the ceiling. Underneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser rimmed in antique brass closes off the base, so the lamp stays hidden and the downward light is softened. A single E27 lampholder sits within.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: bedrooms, landings, hallways and smaller rooms with modest ceiling heights. The light it gives is gentle and diffused rather than a sharp beam, which suits spaces meant for winding down, and the fabric keeps the fitting quiet against a painted or papered ceiling. It takes lamps up to 20W, and we would fit an LED GLS in a warm white. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, both chosen separately.
