Description

A shallow drum of faux silk sits close against the ceiling here, lined in ivory pearl and white laminate so light is thrown back down warm rather than grey. Inside, five E27 sockets are carried on an antique brass frame, and below them a frosted acrylic diffuser with an antique brass rim takes the glare out of the view upwards. The shade measures 40cm across, which gives a broad, even wash of light from a body that stays tight to the ceiling line.

This is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms with ordinary ceiling heights, or a dining room where the table needs light but nothing should sit in the eyeline. With suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer it will dim, so it can run bright for tidying up and drop back for the evening, and the several sockets mean you get plenty of output without pushing any one lamp hard. We keep it in antique brass, which sits happily with older brass ironmongery and with warmer paint colours.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, the shade is fabric over a laminate lining, and the diffuser is moulded acrylic. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery nozzle of a vacuum on its lowest setting, and give the acrylic a wipe with a barely damp cloth once the power is off at the wall switch and everything has cooled. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range there are universal flush and semi flush plates and linear pendants in polished chrome, satin nickel, white and satin black, including a single light semi flush fixture in this same antique brass. Lamps are not included, and we would fit LED GLS lamps rated up to 20W.
