Description

A wide faux silk drum in nude beige sits close to the ceiling here, lined in moonlight so the light picks up a little warmth on its way down. Five E27 lampholders sit behind a frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome trim, which softens the glare into an even wash. The frame and ceiling plate are polished chrome, bright without pulling attention from the shade itself. At 60cm across it reads as a generous circle overhead, and each lamp takes up to 20W.

We would fit this in a hallway, a main bedroom or over a dining table in a room with a lower ceiling, where the drop of a pendant would get in the way. It is dimmable given suitable lamps and a dimmer, so it can run bright for a family meal and drop back to something quieter later. The spread of lampholders covers a larger room evenly, and the diffuser means it can be looked at directly without discomfort. Keep it to dry indoor rooms; a bathroom or a porch needs a fitting rated for damp.

The shade is dual faux silk, beige outside with a paler lining, which gives it depth in daylight as well as when lit.
