Description

Three lamps sit behind a frosted acrylic diffuser beneath a broad drum shade of dual faux silk, raw cocoa with grecian bronze. Polished chrome holds the shade close against the ceiling, so light washes sideways across a room as well as falling softly through the diffuser below. The shade measures 40cm across, wide enough to read as a proper fitting without dominating a modest ceiling. Lamp holders are E27, and we would fit LED GLS globes of up to 20W apiece. Dimming is possible where the lamps and the dimmer are chosen to suit.

Semi flush fittings earn their keep in rooms where headroom is tight: hallways and landings, a bedroom with a sloping ceiling, a kitchen or study in a flat. It is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low and a plain flush fitting would look mean. The warm shade colours suit rooms with wood, wool and older furniture, and the chrome keeps it from feeling heavy. Light output is generous enough for a main room, though the fabric and the diffuser together keep it gentle rather than clinical.

The metalwork is polished chrome, bright without being fussy, and the paired faux silk tones give the shade depth once the lamps are on. Dust the fabric with a soft brush rather than a cloth, and lift marks from the acrylic with a barely damp cloth, with the power off at the wall and the fitting cold. It carries a one year warranty. Keep it to dry indoor rooms on ordinary household mains. The Baymont frame runs through the range in other forms, including universal flush and semi flush fittings and linear pendants, and in antique brass, satin nickel and satin black if chrome is not wanted. Lamps are not included.
