Description

This is a set of five round LED downlights, each with a plastic body finished in satin nickel, and the brushed look of the trim sits quietly against a pale ceiling. Every light is 9cm across and needs only 3cm of depth behind the ceiling, with a 6.8cm cut-out, so these suit shallow ceiling voids where deeper downlights will not fit. The LEDs are integrated, drawing 4.5W and giving 450lm per light. The rating is IP20, which settles where they belong: indoors, in dry rooms.

We would put them in a kitchen, living room, hallway, landing or bedroom, anywhere that stays dry, and keep them out of bathrooms and away from water. Each head tilts within its trim, so you can angle the light towards a worktop, a picture or a favourite chair instead of only lighting the floor. The three colour temperatures let one set suit very different rooms: 2700K gives a warm white for living rooms and bedrooms, 4000K a crisper cool white for kitchens and studies, and 6500K a bright daylight tone for a utility room or a workspace. Buying five matching lights together means a whole ceiling looks consistent from end to end.

The colour temperature is chosen at each light itself, so it is worth settling on the tone for each room before the lights go into the ceiling. They are not dimmable and have no switch of their own, so they run from an ordinary wall switch, which keeps everyday use simple. Spring clips hold each light in its cut-out, the energy class is E and they run on 220-240V mains. As wired-in mains lights, these are installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download.
