Description

The Barranco is a set of five round recessed downlights, each a white plastic frame 9cm across with a neat flat rim and an inner ring that holds the bulb. Every downlight takes a GU10 bulb at up to 5W, and the bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour of light and the brightness that suit the room. The IP rating is IP20, which settles where they belong: indoors, in dry rooms, away from steam and splashing water.

Five matching downlights are a practical number for lighting a hallway, a landing, a bedroom or a living room ceiling in an even pattern, and buying them together means every frame looks the same. White blends into a white ceiling, so the eye goes to the light rather than the fitting. Each one needs only 2.5cm of recess depth, which makes them a good choice where there is little room behind the ceiling board, and each sits in a 6.8cm cut-out.

Spring clips on either side of each frame grip the ceiling board and hold the downlight in place. There is no switch on the downlights themselves, so they run from your wall switch, on a mains supply of 220-240V at 50/60Hz. As a wired-in mains light, the set is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. The whole set weighs 0.405KG packed. A soft dry cloth keeps the white rims clean. Pick up your GU10 bulbs at the same time, 5W or less each, and the set is ready to light from the first evening.
