Description

Three lamps sit behind a shared organza shade, carried on a slim matt black column that stands a little over 1.6m tall. The shade is 45cm across, and the open weave of the organza lets light through the fabric as well as down over the floor, so it reads as a soft glow rather than a tight beam. A foot switch on the flex saves reaching down to the base. Candle lamps go in the E14 sockets, and with dimmable lamps and a separate dimmer the level can be dropped for the evening.

This is the one we reach for in a reading corner or behind a sofa, where the ceiling light on its own leaves a room flat. It puts out more than most floor lamps of this height, so it can carry a snug or a bedroom by itself, and it sits happily alongside table lamps in a bigger sitting room. The foot switch suits anywhere you pass by with hands full. We would fit LED candle lamps and leave them be. It is double insulated and plugs into an ordinary socket, and it is meant for dry rooms indoors.

The frame and base are finished in matt black, a flat black with no shine to catch reflections, and the organza shade is black too, so the lamp keeps the same tone from base to top. Organza is a fine fabric and takes a gentle hand: a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum will lift dust from the weave, and the metalwork wants nothing more than a dry cloth. Leave the lamps to cool before you touch them. It carries a one year warranty. Against pale walls the black column all but disappears and the shade does the work. Lamps are not included.
