Description

A tall standing lamp on a slim matt black stem, topped with a broad drum shade in faux silk. Three candle lamps sit behind that single 45cm shade, so the light spreads evenly rather than pooling in one bright spot. The shade is grey on the outside with a white inner face that pushes light back down into the room. A foot switch on the cable does the work, so there is no reaching up under the shade to find a rocker.

At roughly 1.6m tall, it sits comfortably at the end of a sofa, in the corner of a sitting room, or beside an armchair where you want light on a book without a bright ceiling fitting on. Three lamps give it more output than most single-lamp standard lamps, which makes it a sensible main light for a room with no central point. We often suggest it for rented rooms and awkward corners for that reason. Fit dimmable lamps and add a separate dimmer and the level can be brought right down for evenings.

The frame and base are metal in a matt black finish, with the fabric shade carried above on a black stem, and the lamp is double insulated in use. For cleaning, go over the shade now and then with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and give the black metalwork a wipe with a barely damp cloth, drying it after. Keep water away from the flex and the foot switch. It carries a one year warranty. The plain drum and dark stem sit quietly against both pale walls and deeper paint colours, and it pairs well with black-framed mirrors or picture frames already in the room. Lamps are not included.
