Description

A tall three light design on a slim matt black stand, topped with a wide grey organza shade measuring 45cm across. The sheer fabric softens the light from the candle lamps inside, so what reaches the room is diffused rather than direct, with a faint glow through the weave itself. A foot switch on the flex means you can turn it on and off without stooping.

At 1.6m it stands comfortably beside a sofa arm or an armchair, spreading light across a reading corner without crowding it. We reach for this one where a table lamp would be lost among the clutter on a side table, and it earns its place as the second light in a sitting room already served by a central pendant. In a bedroom it works in the corner beyond the wardrobe, giving a low, even wash rather than a hard pool. The holders take small E14 candle bulbs and we would fit LED candles here; with suitable lamps and a separate dimmer, the output can be brought down for the evening.

The stand and base are matt black with no shine to catch reflections, so the grey shade is the only break in the colour. Organza is a light, open weave and wants a gentle hand: a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting, will lift dust from the fabric, while the metalwork asks for nothing more than a dry cloth now and then. The fitting is double insulated and suited to dry rooms indoors. It carries a one year warranty. Grey and black keep it quiet enough to sit alongside warmer woods and linens, and it is a useful foil to brass or copper elsewhere in the room.
