Description

The Baltimore is a 1.17m-tall pillar lamp in weathered bronze with a single E27 bulb fitting inside an amber-tinted blown glass lantern head. The lantern sits atop a fluted cast aluminium column with a decorative finial crown featuring acanthus leaf detailing and scroll brackets beneath the lantern housing. The weathered bronze finish shows through to warmer tones where the patina has worn, giving the appearance of aged metalwork.

Designed for mounting on gate posts, driveway pillars, garden walls and entrance columns, the Baltimore requires a pillar or post with a flat top surface of at least 225mm square. The IP44 rating protects the lamp from rain and moisture ingress, making it suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations. The E27 socket accepts standard bulbs up to 60W including LED filament bulbs that replicate the appearance of vintage gas lanterns when paired with the amber-tinted glass.

The blown glass diffuser is amber-tinted throughout rather than clear with a coating, so the warm tone remains consistent even as the glass ages. The glass sits within a four-sided cage frame with bronze corner posts and decorative scrollwork at each join. The pillar lamp stands 1.17m from base to finial tip, positioning the light source at approximately 1m above the mounting surface, which suits standard residential gate post heights of 1.2-1.5m total.

The Baltimore requires a flat-topped pillar or post with a minimum surface area of 225mm square. Brick, stone or rendered pillars all work provided the top is level. The lamp base includes mounting holes for fixing directly through into the pillar top.

Is the glass replaceable if damaged?

Yes. The amber-tinted blown glass panels are held in a metal cage frame that can be opened to replace individual glass sections. Replacement glass is available separately from Elstead Lighting.

What bulb works best with the amber glass?

The amber-tinted glass pairs well with warm-white LED filament bulbs in the 2200K-2700K range, which replicate the appearance of gas lanterns. Clear filament bulbs show the traditional coil or loop element through the glass, while frosted bulbs give more diffused light.
