Description

The Balance is a 1616mm floor lamp built around a slender polished nickel frame that extends from a circular white base and cantilevers out to suspend a white cylindrical fabric shade. The shade hangs offset from the vertical column, creating the asymmetric profile that gives the lamp its name. An E27 bulb fitting sits inside the drum shade behind a fabric diffuser panel that softens the light output and prevents glare.

Designed for reading corners beside armchairs or sofas and for bedrooms where task lighting is needed without a ceiling fitting, the Balance directs light downward and outward through the drum shade while the fabric diffuser prevents harsh shadows. The 677mm projection from the base to the front edge of the shade means the lamp can be positioned beside furniture without the shade extending too far into a room. The 455mm shade diameter provides enough spread for reading without dominating a typical sitting area.

The white powder-coated metal base and matching white fabric shade give a cohesive appearance, while the polished nickel frame adds reflective contrast and pairs with chrome, stainless steel and brushed nickel hardware elsewhere in a room. The lamp accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness. The weighted base provides stability on carpets and hard floors without needing wall anchoring.

The Balance takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For reading, a warm-white LED between 6-10W at 2700K-3000K works well with the fabric diffuser.

How far does the shade extend from the base?

The shade projects 677mm from the centre of the circular base to its front edge. This allows the lamp to sit beside furniture without the shade extending too far into the room.

Is the fabric shade removable for cleaning?

The fabric shade can be removed from the frame for dusting or spot-cleaning. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum for regular maintenance, or wipe gently with a barely-damp cloth for marks. Allow the shade to dry fully before refitting.

Is the lamp stable on carpet?

Yes. The weighted circular base provides stability on both hard floors and short- to medium-pile carpets. On very thick or shag rugs, placing the base where part of it sits on bare floor improves stability.
