B22 (BC) LED GLS Bulb 13W 1521lm Non-Dimmable - Warm White 2700K

This is a standard GLS bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, the two pin push and twist fitting that most older UK pendants, table lamps and ceiling roses use. It draws 13W and gives 1521 lumens, which the pack sets against a 100W filament bulb, so it is one of the brighter LED replacements for a main room light. What separates it from an ordinary LED GLS is the colour change switch on the lamp itself, which lets you pick between three white settings, the warmest of them 2700K.

Because the setting is chosen on the bulb rather than at the wall, it suits rooms where you are not sure what light you want until you have lived with it. Fit it in a hallway pendant, a living room ceiling fitting or a bedside lamp, run it for a week, then take it out and move the switch if the light feels wrong. It is also useful in a rented flat, where swapping the fitting is not an option. The opal bulb spreads light in every direction rather than throwing a beam, so it sits happily behind a shade or in an open pendant.

Set the colour before the bulb goes in, since the switch sits on the lamp and the fitting has to come apart to reach it. Will this fit my existing bayonet light fitting?

It has a B22 bayonet cap, the larger two pin push and twist type. Check the old bulb has two small pins on the side of a metal cap roughly 22mm across.

How do I change the colour setting?

The switch is on the lamp body rather than on the wall, so you set it by hand before fitting. Choose the setting first, then install, as you have to take the bulb out again to alter it.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The pack marks this bulb as non dimmable, so it needs a plain on and off switch. On a dimmer circuit a non dimmable LED can flicker, buzz or fail early.

Is it bright enough to replace the 100W bulb I took out?

The pack rates it as a 100W replacement at 1521 lumens, which is at the bright end for a single room light. It is a sensible swap for a main ceiling pendant.

Does the pack give an IP rating?

No IP rating is printed on the pack and the manufacturer does not state one, so treat it as an ordinary indoor bulb for dry, sheltered fittings only.
