B22 (BC) LED Candle Bulb 8.5W 806lm - Warm White 2700K

This is a candle bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, the push and twist fitting with two pins on the side of the metal base rather than a screw thread. It draws 8.5W and gives 806 lumens, which the pack puts as a replacement for a 60W filament candle. The colour temperature is 2700K, a warm white with the yellow cast of old tungsten lighting. The bulb itself is a plain white dome that softens the LED behind it, so you see a lit shape rather than a hard point of light through a shade.

The candle shape is what most chandeliers, wall lights and small pendants are built around, and 806 lumens is generous for it: one bulb is plenty for a bedside lamp or a small hallway pendant, while five in a dining chandelier will light a table properly. The 240 degree beam angle spreads light sideways as well as up, which helps in fittings that point the bulb skyward. Before ordering, check the cap on the bulb you are taking out: B22 has two pins on a metal base, B15 is the smaller bayonet, and E14 and E27 screw in. This bulb is not dimmable, so give it a plain on/off switch: on a dimmer circuit an LED that is not built for one can flicker, buzz or fail early. How do I know my fitting takes a B22 cap?

Look at the base of the old bulb. A B22 cap is a metal cylinder with two small pins sticking out of the sides, and it pushes in and twists a quarter turn. If the base has a spiral thread it is a screw cap and this will not fit.

Is 806 lumens bright enough to replace a 60W candle bulb?

Yes. The pack states 806 lumens as a 60W replacement, which is the same figure a standard 60W filament bulb gave. In a five arm chandelier that is a well lit dining table without needing a second light on.

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?

No. Both the specification and the pack state that it is non dimmable, so it needs an ordinary on/off switch. Running a non dimmable LED on a dimmer circuit can cause flicker, buzzing or an early failure.

What does 2700K warm white look like in a room?

It is a soft yellow white, the tone people associate with old filament bulbs and with evening lighting. It flatters warm paint, wood and brass, and it is the usual choice for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

How many do I have to order, and what arrives?
