Description

The AV:Link F connector is a twist-on termination for RG58 coaxial cable with a 5mm outer diameter. The connector threads onto the prepared cable end without requiring crimping tools, compression fittings or soldering, making it suitable for field installations and repairs where specialist tools are not available.

Designed for satellite TV, aerial and RF signal distribution systems, the connector accepts the 5mm diameter RG58 cable commonly used in dual satellite LNB installations and domestic aerial runs. The twist-on mechanism grips the cable braid and seats the centre conductor in the pin, forming both the shield connection and the signal path. Once threaded on, the connector forms an F-type male termination compatible with standard F-type sockets on satellite receivers, distribution amplifiers and wall plates.

The connector body is formed from nickel-plated metal with a threaded collar that engages the F-type socket. AV:Link specifies compatibility with their 808.107UK, 808.109UK and 808.163UK dual satellite cables, all of which share the 5mm RG58 construction. The twist-on design allows the connector to be removed and refitted if the cable needs to be re-terminated or re-routed during installation.

Does this require any special tools to fit?

No. The connector threads onto the prepared cable end by hand. You will need a cable stripper or sharp knife to prepare the RG58 cable (strip back the outer jacket, fold back the braid, strip the dielectric to expose the centre conductor), but no crimping or compression tools are needed to attach the connector itself.

What cable diameter does it fit?

The connector is sized for RG58 coaxial cable with a 5mm outer diameter. It will not fit larger cables such as RG6 (6.15mm) or smaller cables such as RG174 (2.8mm).

Can it be reused if I need to re-terminate the cable?

Yes. The twist-on mechanism allows the connector to be unscrewed from the cable and refitted, provided the cable end has not been damaged during removal. This makes it suitable for installations where cables may need to be re-routed or adjusted.

Is it weatherproof for outdoor use?

The connector is not specified as weatherproof. For outdoor or exposed installations, the F-type connection should be housed inside a weatherproof enclosure or sealed with self-amalgamating tape and heat-shrink to prevent moisture ingress.
