Description

The AV:Link coaxial plug to F socket adaptor converts a standard coaxial TV plug (male) into an F-type socket (female), allowing satellite and aerial cables with F-type connectors to connect to devices with coaxial sockets. The metal-bodied construction provides RF shielding and maintains signal integrity for both digital and analogue transmissions.

Used primarily in satellite TV installations, cable distribution systems, and aerial setups where equipment uses mixed connector types, the adaptor allows a coaxial-fitted device to accept an F-type cable without re-terminating. Common applications include connecting satellite receivers, TV amplifiers, and distribution boxes where the input and output connector types don't match. The threaded F socket accepts standard F-type plugs and provides a more secure connection than push-fit coaxial alternatives.

The compact 30mm length and metal barrel keep the adaptor unobtrusive when fitted behind wall-mounted screens or in equipment racks. The nickel-plated finish resists corrosion in indoor installations and maintains low contact resistance over time. The adaptor is passive, requiring no power and introducing no active components into the signal path.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between coaxial and F-type connectors?

Coaxial TV plugs are push-fit connectors used on standard aerial cables in the UK. F-type connectors have a threaded coupling nut and are used on satellite cables and some distribution systems. This adaptor bridges the two, allowing a coaxial plug to connect to equipment fitted with an F socket.

Does it work with both satellite and aerial signals?

Yes. The adaptor is passive and suitable for both terrestrial TV signals (aerial) and satellite signals (typically 950-2150 MHz). It introduces minimal signal loss when used with properly terminated cables.

Can it be used outdoors?

The nickel-plated metal body provides some corrosion resistance, but the adaptor is designed for indoor use. For outdoor installations, use weatherproof F-type connectors and cable glands rated for exterior use.
