Description

The AV:Link BNC to RCA adapter converts a BNC plug connection to an RCA phono socket, allowing professional composite video equipment with BNC outputs to connect to domestic AV systems that use RCA phono inputs. The adapter is a passive barrel connector with a BNC plug on one end and an RCA socket on the other, requiring no power or active conversion.

Designed for CCTV monitors, broadcast equipment, test instruments and professional video switchers that output composite video via BNC, the adapter bridges the connection to domestic televisions, DVD recorders, VCRs and consumer-grade capture devices that accept RCA phono composite inputs. The adapter also works in reverse, allowing an RCA cable to connect to equipment with BNC sockets, though this is a less common use case.

The metal barrel is nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and to maintain signal integrity across the connection. The BNC plug features the standard bayonet lock mechanism, twisting onto BNC sockets with a quarter-turn to secure the connection. The RCA socket accepts standard RCA phono plugs and grips via friction fit. No tools are required for connection or removal.

Frequently Asked

Does this adapter convert the signal quality?

No. The adapter is a passive connector that simply changes the physical connection type from BNC to RCA. The signal remains composite video at the same resolution and quality as the source equipment provides. There is no upscaling or format conversion.

Can this be used for audio connections?

Yes, though it is primarily designed for composite video. BNC and RCA connectors can both carry analogue audio signals, so the adapter will work for connecting professional audio equipment with BNC outputs to consumer equipment with RCA inputs, or vice versa.

Is the connection secure enough for permanent installation?

The BNC side locks with a bayonet twist, providing a secure connection suitable for permanent or semi-permanent installation. The RCA side relies on friction fit, which is less secure than BNC but adequate for most fixed installations where the cable is not subject to movement or tension.

Does it work in both directions?

Yes. You can use it to connect a BNC cable to equipment with an RCA socket, or to connect an RCA cable to equipment with a BNC socket, depending on which end you attach to which piece of equipment.
