Description

Atom is a floor lamp in black and opal. A tall vertical black rod rising from a flat round black disc base, with six opal glass spheres set on short black stubs that branch from it at different heights and angles, so the cluster climbs the rod rather than spreading. Each sphere is warm opal and evenly diffusing, and they sit close enough to overlap in outline without touching. The rod is a plain round tube with a plain sliding joint partway down. Nothing is symmetrical and the arrangement reads differently from every side.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The holder is G9. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
