Description

Here is a small round recessed light with an angled aperture, so light leaves the face at a tilt rather than straight out. The visible trim measures 80mm across and the finish is a matt sand white. The LED is built in and draws 3W, giving a warm white light of modest strength, better suited to marking a surface than to lighting a whole garden.

We use fittings of this kind where a wall light would sit proud and get in the way: along a path, beside steps, at a back door or under a porch roof. The angled aperture throws light downward and to one side, which keeps the brightness off the eyeline of anyone walking towards it and puts it where it is useful, on the ground. It is sealed for outdoor positions and copes with rain and hosing, so an exposed boundary wall or an open terrace is no trouble. There is no dimming, so we would put it on a switch or a timer.

The driver comes with the fitting, so nothing further is needed to run it. It carries a three year warranty, and output sits at 210 lumens, low enough for the light to read as a quiet marker after dark. Cleaning is a matter of a wipe over the face with a damp cloth now and then, with the power off, and a brush around the edge in autumn when leaves and cobwebs gather. We stock the same round angled fitting in anthracite and sand black, and if you would rather the light came from a shrouded opening, or preferred a square face, both are in the range.
