Description

A small round recess light for outside, with a shaped eyelid hood set over the LED so the light drops downwards and the source itself stays out of view. The visible face is 80mm across, finished in a soft sand white that sits quietly against pale render and painted brick. Output is warm white and modest, near 210 lumens, so the effect is a soft scallop of light on the surface below rather than a broad wash. The driver comes with it, and the LED is built in.

Low-level light like this earns its keep along garden steps, beside a path, under a porch soffit or down the flank of a house where you want to see your footing without a bright fitting in your eye line. It is one we reach for where a wall light beside a door would crowd the entrance, and it suits anyone building up a run of small points rather than one bright source. Being weather rated, it is happy with rain and wind on an exposed elevation. It switches on and off and is not dimmable, so plan it as constant background light.

The body is compact and shallow for its diameter, and the matt sand white face resists showing scuffs better than a gloss would. Give the lens an occasional wipe with a damp cloth, power off first, to clear rain spotting, cobwebs and the grey film that collects on any outdoor fitting through winter. Salt air near the coast deserves a rinse more often. It carries a three year warranty. We also stock the round eyelid in anthracite and sand black, plus square eyelid and angled versions in the same range, which makes it easy to keep a whole garden or frontage on one 3W family of fittings. Mixing the round and square faces on the same house rarely works as well as picking one shape and staying with it.
