Description

A hood over the top of the round face gives this one its name and its manner: light is pushed down and forward, and the LED behind it stays out of your eyeline as you pass. The face is 80mm across, in an anthracite finish that reads as dark grey against brick and render. The LED is integrated, running at 3W in a warm white, with the driver supplied and no dimming to arrange.

It suits places where you want to see the ground rather than the fitting: steps up to a front door, a garden path, a boundary wall, the side of a porch. Sealed against rain and hose spray, it is fine on an exposed elevation as well as tucked under a soffit. The warm white keeps stone and timber looking friendly rather than clinical, and the modest output means several can be spaced along a wall without glare. We would fit them in pairs either side of a door.

The body is compact and recessed, with an earthed connection, and it carries a three year warranty. Outdoors, what dulls a small light like this is grime on the face, so give it a wipe with a damp cloth each season, power off first, and clear any cobwebs from beneath the hood. The eyelid face is also offered in sand black and sand white, and there are square eyelid versions if straight edges suit your brickwork better; the angled round and square heads sit in the same range for a more open spread of light.
