Description

The Ascent is a 1.8m column floor lamp built around a tapered steel base finished in black with polished nickel accents at the top and bottom. A white hard-backed faux silk shade sits on a nickel fitting at the apex, housing a single E27 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 60W. The black steel column rises from a square footprint of 460 x 460mm, giving the lamp a vertical profile suited to corners and alcoves where floor space is limited.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and wide hallways with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Ascent provides ambient light rather than task lighting. The white faux silk shade diffuses the light output across a wider spread than an open-bulb fitting, casting a warm glow upwards onto the ceiling and outwards into the room. The 1.8m height positions the bulb above typical seating eye-level, reducing glare when viewed from a sofa or armchair.

The tapered column narrows as it rises from the 460mm square base to approximately 100mm at the neck where it meets the nickel collar. This taper gives the lamp visual lift without the bulk of a cylindrical column. The polished nickel trim at the base, centre joint and top collar contrasts with the matt black steel, providing visual markers along the column's length. The faux silk shade is fabric-backed for rigidity, so it holds its shape without sagging and can be wiped clean with a dry cloth.
