Description

The Arvello is a 380mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a wide, shallow matte black dome canopy with a rounded natural Spanish alabaster diffuser set into its centre. The canopy is formed from solid copper finished in matte black, and the alabaster bowl houses a single G9 lamp. The fitting projects only 100mm from the ceiling, keeping the profile low while the broad disc gives the light visual presence overhead.

The semi-flush format suits rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m, where a hanging pendant would feel intrusive but a fully recessed downlight would lack character. Hallways, landings, bedrooms and smaller living spaces are typical fits. The 380mm diameter reads well above a circulation route, beside a bed, or centred in a room of roughly 8-12 square metres. Installation is to a standard UK ceiling rose with the canopy concealing the wiring point.

The contrast between the dark canopy and the pale, veined stone is the defining feature of the design. Each alabaster diffuser shows different mineral patterning, with grey and warm taupe veining running through the soft white body of the stone. When the G9 lamp is lit, the alabaster glows from within and the veining becomes more pronounced, while the matte black canopy stays visually quiet and lets the stone do the work. The smooth join between the copper canopy and the alabaster bowl is finished without visible fixings.

Is the Arvello suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The semi-flush format projects only 100mm from the ceiling, making it well suited to rooms with ceilings of 2.2m and above. It works in hallways, landings and bedrooms where a hanging pendant would sit too low.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule lamp, sold separately. A warm-white LED G9 between 2.5W and 3.5W at 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster, giving warm diffused light without overheating the stone.

Does the alabaster pattern vary?

Yes. The diffuser is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal depth and translucency differ between individual pieces. No two Arvello lights look identical when lit, which is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Arvello does not carry a published IP rating, so it is intended for general indoor use rather than bathroom zones. For bathroom installation, choose a fitting with an appropriate IP rating for the zone in question.
