Description

The Arco is a 640mm flush ceiling light built around a straight satin nickel bar supporting four cylindrical frosted glass diffusers, each housing a G9 bulb (sold separately). The bar sits 50mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with low ceilings or where overhead clearance is limited. The frosted diffusers soften the light from each bulb and distribute it evenly along the length of the fitting.

Designed for hallways, kitchens, living rooms and entrance areas where ceiling height is below 2.4m, the Arco provides functional overhead lighting without the drop of a pendant. The four G9 sockets support up to 160W total load, which translates to modern LED equivalents of around 8-12W per bulb delivering 400-600 lumens each. The spacing of the diffusers creates an even light pattern along the 640mm length, reducing shadowing on worktops or along corridors.

The satin nickel finish on the bar gives a low-sheen metallic surface that sits comfortably in both contemporary and transitional interiors, pairing with chrome taps, brushed steel appliances and grey-toned colour palettes. The cylindrical frosted diffusers measure approximately 80mm diameter and are evenly spaced at 160mm intervals along the bar. The 1.5kg weight requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a joist-mounted back plate, not plasterboard alone.

The Arco uses four G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs in the 6-10W range (equivalent to 40-60W halogen) are the most common choice, providing 400-600 lumens per bulb. Dimmable bulbs are required if pairing with a dimmer switch.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. With a 50mm projection from the ceiling, the Arco works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above. The flush construction avoids the overhead clearance issue common with pendant lights in hallways or kitchen workspaces.

Can it be dimmed?

The fitting itself is dimmable, but you must use dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair the circuit with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable bulbs or incompatible dimmers will cause flickering or reduced lifespan.

How is it mounted?

The Arco weighs 1.5kg and requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a joist-mounted back plate. Plasterboard-only fixing is not recommended. The bar connects to a standard UK ceiling rose wiring point.
