Description

This is a pair of stoneware bowls, each 13.5cm across and 7.5cm tall with a 500ml capacity, decorated all over the outside with stylised birds. The two bowls are not identical. One carries a busy flock of birds in flight across its whole surface; the other sets birds among a dense pattern of leaves and sprigs, finished with a scalloped band at the rim. Inside, each has a smooth, glossy glaze in a single colour, so the multicoloured outside meets a plain, calm interior. Both stand on a neat foot that lifts them slightly off the table.

At 500ml, these are generous everyday bowls rather than small dishes: the right size for breakfast cereal, porridge, yoghurt with fruit, a bowl of soup or noodles, or a helping of ice cream. They also work at the centre of the table for crisps, olives or a salad side. Because the two patterns differ, a pair suits a couple's breakfast or two places at a small kitchen table, where each person has their own bowl. They make a cheerful housewarming gift, or a present for anyone who likes colour and pattern on the table.

Both bowls are 100% stoneware, and the decoration is a decal, a printed transfer design. Stoneware is a dense, sturdy ceramic that holds heat well, which suits warm food. They go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, so you can warm porridge, reheat soup or keep a side dish hot without moving it into another dish. The styling props shown are not included. For styling, set them on plain linen or bare wood and let the birds carry the colour, or put both patterns side by side for a mismatched look that still feels planned.

Can they go in the dishwasher and the microwave?

Yes. Both bowls go in the dishwasher and the microwave, and they can go in the oven too, so reheating and washing up are easy.

What is the material of the bowls?

They are 100% stoneware, a dense and sturdy ceramic, with the bird and foliage pattern applied as a decal finish.

Are the two bowls the same design?

No. One is covered in a flock of birds in flight, while the other has birds among leaves and sprigs with a scalloped band at the rim.
