Description
Angora is a floor lamp in antique brass. A slim antique brass stem rising from a shallow domed brass base and bending over at the top into a small brass cone that hangs at an angle, open at its lower edge. The cone is short and straight-sided and its inside is brass too, so the whole head glows warm when the lamp is on. A plain turned joint breaks the stem partway up, where the upper section slides to set the height. The brass is a soft aged gold, the same tone on the base, the stem and the shade. The base is a low dome with a wide flat foot.
It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in. The height is set on a collar on the stem and needs no tools, so it is adjusted where it stands rather than at installation. There is an inline foot switch on the flex, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.
The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.
