Description

The Alton is a large LED picture light with a 660mm horizontal arm in brushed nickel, housing an integrated 10W LED strip that casts even downward illumination across artwork and framed prints. The light mounts on a circular wall bracket with a curved goose-neck support, allowing the arm to project 120mm from the wall and angle the light directly onto the frame below.

Designed for frames between 600mm and 900mm wide, the Alton suits larger canvases, prints and photographs in living rooms, hallways, home galleries and above mantels. The 660mm arm provides full-width coverage without leaving dark corners at the edges of wider frames. The wall bracket fixes to a standard wall plate with two fixing points and can be mounted centrally above a frame or offset depending on the frame's hanging position.

The brushed nickel finish has a low-lustre satin surface that reduces reflections under ambient light and pairs comfortably with both cool-toned and warm-toned interiors. The integrated LED eliminates the need for separate bulbs and produces a neutral white light that renders colours accurately without colour-casting onto the artwork. The slim tubular arm and minimal wall bracket give the fitting a low visual profile, keeping focus on the frame rather than the light source.

The integrated LED is not dimmable on this model. The light operates at a fixed output on 230V mains. If dimming is required, contact us to confirm whether Elstead produces a dimmable variant.

How far does it project from the wall?

The goose-neck support projects the arm approximately 120mm from the wall, angling the light downward onto the frame. This projection keeps the light source clear of the frame's top edge while providing even coverage across the surface.

Can it be used on mirrored or glass-fronted frames?

Yes, but angle and positioning are critical. Glass-fronted frames reflect the light source if the fixture is mounted too close to the viewer's eye line. Mounting the light higher above the frame and angling it slightly steeper reduces glare on glass.
