Description

The Allora is an 80cm round chandelier built around a gold-finished brass frame hung with two tiers of clear crystal tube prisms. Twelve E14 candle lamps sit inside the upper ring, lighting the cut crystal from within so the tubes themselves carry the glow downwards through the lower tier. The fitting suspends from three thin steel cables fixed to a central canopy.

At 80cm wide and 30cm deep, the Allora suits dining rooms above a 6-10 seat table, double-height entrance halls, and large living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The shallow 30cm body keeps it usable below standard ceilings while the wide diameter gives it the visual weight to anchor a larger room. The cable suspension can be shortened during installation to set the drop above a dining table or stairwell.

Each crystal tube is a faceted prism rather than a flat panel, so the cut edges catch light along their length and project narrow shafts of light onto walls and ceilings when lit. The gold finish on the brass armature reads as warm polished gold rather than yellow brass, complementing both traditional crystal interiors and modern schemes that use gold as an accent metal. The 12 x 40W maximum lamp rating gives plenty of headroom to use lower-wattage LED candle bulbs (sold separately) for everyday use.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Allora takes twelve E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs rated up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers fit warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K to keep the crystal looking warm without running the fitting at full halogen wattage.

What ceiling height does it need?

The fitting itself is 30cm deep, suspended from cables that can be shortened during installation. It works best in rooms with ceilings of 2.7m or higher, or above a dining table where the chandelier can hang 750-850mm above the table surface.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself has no integrated electronics, so dimming depends on the bulbs chosen. Pair it with twelve dimmable LED candle bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge LED dimmer for full control.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool. Clean the crystal tubes with a soft microfibre cloth and a mild glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than directly onto the fitting. Avoid getting cleaner onto the gold-finished brass frame.
