Description

Alida is a table lamp built around a handpainted stoneware base, striped from neck to foot and topped with a linen drum shade. The base is full and rounded, narrowing to a slim neck and a short, tucked-in foot, so it reads as a vessel as much as a lamp. In all it stands 46cm tall, 33cm long and 19cm wide, and the multicoloured stripes run vertically over the curve of the body, following its shape rather than sitting flat on it.

At 46cm tall it suits a bedside table, a sideboard or the end of a desk, where it gives a soft pool of light for reading or for quiet evenings with the main light off. It sits happily in a living room, bedroom, hallway or study, and looks its best against plain walls and simple wooden furniture, where the stripes have room to show. The 180cm cable gives you reach to a socket that is not right beside the furniture, and the switch sits on the cord, so you can turn the lamp on without reaching up under the shade.
