Description
The Alexandra is a 78cm-diameter spiral crystal chandelier with 49 E14 bulb positions arranged across four descending tiers on a gold-finished metal frame. Each tier carries strands of clear faceted crystal droplets that cascade in a helical formation from a shared central column, creating a continuous spiral from the 780mm-wide upper crown down to the tapered lower point. The gold frame runs through the centre and supports four progressively smaller rings, each wrapped in crystal strands that catch and refract light from the 49 individual bulb positions.
Designed for double-height entrance halls, open staircases and vaulted spaces with ceiling heights between 4.5m and 7.5m, the Alexandra requires substantial vertical clearance to accommodate its 2.68m minimum drop. The drop is adjustable up to 5.68m by extending the suspension chain during installation, allowing the chandelier to be positioned for maximum visual impact in taller spaces. The spiral configuration means the chandelier presents differently from every angle as you move around it, making it particularly suited to open-plan layouts and central stairwell positions where it can be viewed from multiple floors.
The gold finish on the metal frame provides warm contrast to the clear crystal, softening the overall appearance compared to polished chrome or nickel variants. Each crystal droplet is individually hung on the metal frame and aligned to maintain the spiral geometry across all four tiers. The combined weight of 44.65kg requires a reinforced ceiling fixing point and professional installation — the chandelier is not suited to standard plasterboard ceilings without additional structural support. The 49 E14 bulbs are sold separately, allowing choice of LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs up to 20W per socket.
Dimming is supported when dimmable E14 bulbs are fitted and paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the circuit. The Alexandra is part of Diyas Lighting's architectural crystal range and carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering the metal frame and crystal fittings.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height is needed for the Alexandra?
The minimum drop of 2.68m means you need a ceiling height of at least 4.5m to provide adequate clearance below the chandelier. The maximum drop extends to 5.68m, making it suitable for ceiling heights up to 7.5m in double-height halls and stairwells.
What bulbs does it take and are they included?
The Alexandra takes 49 E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each rated up to 20W. Bulbs are not included. Most installations use warm-white LED candle bulbs between 3-6W and 2700K for a traditional appearance, though decorative filament bulbs are also popular.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, when fitted with dimmable E14 bulbs and controlled by a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch on the circuit. The chandelier itself is dimmer-compatible — bulb choice determines the final dimming performance.
Does the ceiling need reinforcement?
Yes. At 44.65kg the Alexandra requires a reinforced ceiling fixing point, typically a metal bracket or beam fixing. Standard plasterboard ceilings cannot support this weight without additional structural support. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
