Albers Opal Glass Globe Flush Ceiling Light - Champagne Bronze

The Albers is a 203mm opal glass globe flush ceiling light with a champagne bronze canopy that sits flat against the ceiling. A single E27 bulb inside the opal glass sphere diffuses light evenly across the room, providing ambient coverage without the drop projection of a pendant. The champagne bronze finish on the metal canopy and collar provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.4m where a pendant would hang too low, the Albers suits hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms (outside zones requiring IP rating), walk-in wardrobes and secondary living spaces. The 219mm projection from ceiling to base of globe keeps the fitting visually unobtrusive whilst the 203mm diameter glass provides sufficient light coverage for rooms up to 10-12m². Multiple Albers fittings can be spaced along a hallway or corridor to provide consistent ambient light without the need for recessed downlights.

The opal glass is a smooth white milk glass that hides the bulb from view whilst allowing light to pass through evenly in all directions. The champagne bronze finish is a mid-tone warm metallic that sits between polished brass and antique brass, offering warmth without the high reflectivity of polished finishes. The metal collar that holds the glass globe to the ceiling canopy is visible as a 30mm band at the top of the sphere, creating a defined separation between glass and ceiling plane. The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 40W, allowing choice of LED, halogen or filament bulbs depending on the colour temperature and brightness required.

What bulb does the Albers take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 5-8W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 219mm projection from ceiling to base of globe makes the Albers suitable for standard UK ceiling heights of 2.2-2.4m and above. It works particularly well in spaces where a pendant would hang too low or feel visually heavy.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Albers carries no IP rating and is not certified for bathroom zones requiring moisture or splash protection. It can be used in bathrooms outside the defined zones, typically 600mm or more from the edge of a bath or shower enclosure and above 2.25m from the floor.

How is the glass globe fitted?

The opal glass globe is held to the ceiling canopy by a metal collar that screws or clips into place. The canopy mounts to a standard UK ceiling rose and conceals the electrical connections. The globe can be removed for bulb changes without disconnecting the canopy from the ceiling.
