Description
The Albers is a compact flush ceiling light built around a 216mm diameter flared opal glass shade that sits directly against the ceiling in a matt black metal canopy. The single E27 socket inside the shade accepts bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), and the opal glass diffuses the light output evenly across the ceiling plane and down into the room below.
Designed for low-ceiling rooms, hallways, utility spaces, home offices and bathrooms (check IP rating before bathroom use), the Albers provides general ambient light in spaces where pendant drops are impractical. The 259mm total height projection keeps the fitting close to the ceiling surface, leaving headroom clear in corridors and smaller rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m. The black canopy and white glass create strong tonal contrast, making the fitting visible as a design detail rather than disappearing into the ceiling.
The flared cone shape of the opal glass shade directs more light downwards than a sphere or drum diffuser would, while still providing some ceiling wash to prevent the ceiling itself from appearing dark. The E27 socket gives flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament bulbs depending on the desired colour temperature and brightness. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general room lighting.
The Albers range from Kichler includes multiple finishes and sizes, allowing the same design language to be repeated across a home where consistency in fittings is wanted. The black finish pairs well with matt black switches, handles and other hardware in modern and industrial-leaning interiors.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Albers take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general ambient lighting.
What ceiling height is needed?
The Albers projects 259mm from the ceiling surface, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights as low as 2.2m without creating headroom issues. It works particularly well in hallways, utility rooms and smaller bedrooms where ceiling height is limited.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you fit. If you use a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible LED dimmer switch, the Albers can be dimmed. Standard non-dimmable bulbs will not work with a dimmer.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The specification sheet does not list an IP rating. Without an IP rating, the Albers is not suitable for bathroom zones 1 or 2 (near baths, showers or basins). It may be acceptable in zone 3 (outside the zones but still in the bathroom room) subject to local building regulations.
