Description

The Alana is a single-light outdoor wall fitting with a polycarbonate body finished in matt black, rated IP65 for protection against water jets and dust ingress. A clear glass lens sits inside a cylindrical housing that holds one GU10 LED bulb up to 5W (sold separately), directing light downward through the glass aperture.

Designed for exterior wall mounting at doorways, porch entries, garage sides and garden pathways, the Alana measures 92mm high by 68mm wide with an 80mm projection from the wall. The compact footprint works on narrow sections of wall where larger fittings would overwhelm the space. The IP65 rating allows the fitting to be installed in fully exposed positions including coastal areas, where the polycarbonate body resists corrosion from salt air better than painted steel or aluminium alternatives.

The matt black finish provides a low-reflectance surface that blends into dark-coloured wall cladding and pairs cleanly with modern, industrial and minimalist exterior schemes. The polycarbonate construction is lighter than die-cast metal equivalents while maintaining structural integrity in outdoor conditions. Class II double-insulated construction means the fitting does not require an earth connection during installation, simplifying wiring on properties with older electrical systems.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 protection means the fitting is fully sealed against dust and can withstand water jets from any direction. This makes the Alana suitable for fully exposed positions including coastal areas where spray and salt air are present.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 LED bulb up to 5W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-5W warm-white GU10 LED for porch and pathway lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb you fit. If you use a dimmable GU10 LED and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch, the light output can be controlled. Non-dimmable GU10 LEDs will operate at full brightness only.

Why polycarbonate rather than metal?

Polycarbonate resists corrosion better than painted steel or aluminium in coastal and high-moisture environments. It is also lighter, reducing strain on fixing screws during installation, and does not conduct electricity, which simplifies the Class II double-insulated wiring.
