Description
The Alana is a compact IP65-rated outdoor wall light built from matt black polycarbonate with a clear glass front lens and a single GU10 downward-facing lamp holder. The 68mm square footprint and 80mm projection create a low-profile cube that sits flush against external walls, directing light down onto doorways, steps, pathways or patio areas.
Designed for coastal and high-exposure locations where metal fittings corrode, the polycarbonate body resists salt spray, rain ingress and UV degradation without requiring regular repainting or surface treatment. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for positions fully exposed to weather including under soffits, on garden walls and adjacent to pools or water features.
The Class II double-insulated construction means the fitting does not require an earth connection, simplifying installation where existing wall circuits lack earth continuity. The GU10 lamp holder accepts any standard mains-voltage GU10 LED up to 5W (sold separately), and dimming capability depends on the specific lamp chosen. The polycarbonate frame weighs substantially less than equivalent die-cast aluminium fittings, reducing load on fixings when mounted to rendered or timber-clad walls.

Frequently Asked
What GU10 lamp should I use?
The fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED up to 5W. Most users pair this with a 4-5W warm white LED (2700K-3000K) for path and door lighting. The lamp is not included and must be purchased separately.
Is it suitable for coastal locations?
Yes. The polycarbonate body resists corrosion from salt spray and does not rust, pit or degrade in the same way metal fittings do. The IP65 rating protects internal components from water and dust ingress in fully exposed positions.
Can it be mounted upside-down for uplighting?
The fitting is designed for downward light projection with the GU10 lamp facing down. Mounting it inverted may trap water inside the lens and is not recommended under the IP65 rating.
Does it need an earth connection?
No. The Class II double-insulated construction does not require an earth connection, which simplifies installation on older circuits or locations where earth continuity is not available.
