Description

This is the working half of a crystal downlight: the lampholder and retaining ring that sit behind a decorative rim and hold it in place. The finish is aged brass, a warm, softly darkened gold that reads far quieter than polished metal. It is made for a 62mm cut-out and takes a single GU10 lamp, with an LED reflector of up to 10W recommended. Dimming is possible where the lamp itself is a dimmable type.

Crystal rims turn a run of downlights into something that catches light rather than simply delivering it, and this kit is what makes them work. We stock it alongside the rims themselves, which are bought separately, so you can choose the shape and colour you want and pair it with metalwork to match. It suits hallways, dressing rooms, kitchens and sitting rooms, anywhere a ceiling light should stay discreet while still giving a little sparkle. Aged brass sits happily with older ironmongery and warm paint colours, and it is one we would pair with a warm white lamp.

The metalwork is finished in aged brass throughout, so the retaining ring sits comfortably against whichever rim you choose. It is double insulated. Bathroom shower zones and any outdoor position are out of bounds for it. For cleaning, switch the circuit off, let things cool, then wipe the ring with a soft dry cloth; polishes and sprays will only dull the aged surface. We also keep the same kit in satin black, polished chrome and french gold, and the crystal rims in round, square and chamfered profiles. It carries a one year warranty, and lamps are not included.
