Description

This is a slim picture light with two G9 lamp positions set behind a shallow front bar, 35cm across. The finish is satin black, an even dark tone that keeps the fitting quiet against a painted wall. Light output is daylight white at 6000K, a crisp colour that reads well over pictures and work surfaces rather than soft lounge lighting. A toggle switch sits on the fitting itself, so it can be worked by hand, and the light will dim with a compatible dimmer, which is bought separately.

We reach for this one over framed prints, a run of photographs up a staircase, or a shelf of books where the light needs to fall forward instead of down. It suits hallways, studies and home offices, and it works above a mirror in a cloakroom where a cleaner colour of light is useful for shaving or make-up. The projection carries the light out from the wall, so it clears a frame without leaning over it. We keep this narrower width for smaller pieces and the longer one for a wide canvas.

Capsule lamps are supplied with the fitting, and they are replaceable, so the whole light need not be changed when one comes to the end of its life. It is earthed and intended for dry rooms indoors, well away from splashes and steam. To clean, switch it off at the toggle, let the capsules cool, then run a soft dry cloth along the housing and the front bar, keeping anything damp clear of the lamp seats. It carries a one year warranty. The range also comes in satin nickel and antique brass, and in warmer colours of light if daylight white feels too keen for the room.

Do I need to buy lamps?

Will it work on my existing dimmer?
