Description

This is a slim wall and picture light in satin black, measuring 35cm across, with a shallow head that leans out over whatever sits beneath it. Two G9 capsules do the work, and they come supplied, giving a crisp 4000K cool white that reads clean rather than yellow. A small toggle switch sits on the body, so the light can be turned on and off where it hangs. It dims too, given a suitable dimmer on the circuit, so it can be pulled back to a low glow in the evening.

We reach for this one above framed prints, oils and watercolours, where a downward wash picks out brushwork and paper texture without spilling across the wall. It works just as well over a mirror, along a hallway of family photographs, or above a run of shelves in a study. Cool white suits detail and colour accuracy, which makes it a sensible pick for artwork you actually want to look at rather than simply light. The toggle is handy in a bedroom or on a landing, where reaching the fitting is easier than crossing the room to a switch.
