Description

Two G9 capsules sit behind a slim satin nickel bar that measures 35cm across, washing soft warm light up and down the wall. The tone is a comfortable 3000K, kind to paint, paper and timber alike, and the fitting dims when paired with a compatible dimmer, so it can drop back to a low glow in the evening. A toggle switch on the body means it can be worked on its own, without reaching for a wall switch. It keeps close to the wall, so it will not catch a shoulder in a passing space.

Its low, wide form is made for the space above something: an oil painting, a run of framed prints, a mirror over a chimney breast. It reads equally well simply as a wall light, in a hallway where nothing should project far, or above a bedhead. We would fit a pair either side of a fireplace for a symmetrical scheme, and it is one we reach for in narrow rooms where a shaded fitting would crowd the walkway. The warm tone flatters oils, timber frames and gilt.

The satin nickel has a soft brushed sheen that hides fingerprints better than polished chrome, and it sits quietly against off-white and stone-coloured walls. Keep it clean with a dry duster, switching off first and letting the capsules cool before you go near them. Rated for indoor rooms, it belongs inside the house rather than in a porch or a shower room. It carries a one year warranty.
