Abacus 4 Light Switched Picture Light 60cm 6000K - Satin Nickel

A long, low bar in satin nickel that sits quietly against the wall and lights what hangs near it. Four G9 capsules run along the 60cm body, and the light they give is daylight white at 6000K: crisp, clean and noticeably cooler than a warm household lamp. A toggle switch on the fitting itself lets you work it by hand, and it will also dim where a compatible dimmer is fitted on the circuit.

We would hang it above a large canvas or a run of framed prints, where the width sits comfortably with the frame and the light spreads along the picture rather than pooling in one spot. It works just as well over a sideboard, down a hallway, or above a desk or workbench, and the cooler light is genuinely useful where colour needs to read true: studios, home offices, a wall of maps or photographs. Keep it to dry rooms inside the house, so not bathrooms, porches or anywhere it might catch damp.

The satin nickel is a soft low-shine grey that settles beside brushed steel, chrome and pale paintwork, and it does not show marks the way polished metal does. An occasional pass with a dry duster along the top edge keeps it tidy; if it needs more, use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight after, with nothing abrasive and no sprays near the capsules. Switch it off and give the capsules a moment before handling them. It carries a one year warranty. Capsules come supplied, so there is nothing else to buy unless you want the dimmer.

What are the dimensions?

It measures 600mm wide and 125mm high, and projects 220mm from the wall.

Are the lamps supplied?

Yes. Four G9 LED capsules are included. If you replace them later, stay within 33W per lamp.

Can I dim it?

Yes, on a suitable dimmer. A dimmer is not supplied with the fitting, so allow for one if you want dimming.

What does the light look like?

It is 6000K daylight white, a cool crisp light rather than a warm yellow one, which makes it good for artwork and close work.

Does it have its own switch?

It does. There is a toggle switch on the fitting, so it can be operated without a separate wall switch.

How should I clean it?

Turn it off and let the capsules cool, dust the housing with a soft dry cloth, then use a barely damp cloth on marks and dry it off. Avoid solvents and polishes.
