A long, slim fitting in antique brass, stretching 60cm across the wall, with four G9 capsules set along its length and a toggle switch on the body so it can be worked where it hangs rather than from across the room. The light it gives is cool white, a crisp 4000K that keeps colours honest and edges clean. It dims as well, provided a compatible dimmer is fitted, so the same fitting can be run bright for close work or turned down to a quiet glow.

We would put it above a large canvas or a run of framed prints, where the forward reach carries light out over the picture rather than straight down the wall behind. It is one of the wider fittings of its kind that we keep, so it will not look mean beneath a broad frame. It works just as well over a mirror in a dressing area, above a headboard for late reading, or across a shelf of books in a study. It projects 220mm and stands 125mm tall, across a width of 600mm, so it reaches out far enough to throw light over a framed picture rather than down the wall behind it.

What lamps does it take, and are they supplied?

It takes four G9 capsules and these are included, rated at 16W in total. If you replace one later, LED capsule lamps are the right choice and each socket will accept up to 33W.

Do I need a particular dimmer?

Yes, a dimmer suitable for LED loads is needed, and one is not supplied with the fitting. Without a dimmer on the circuit it still runs at full output using the toggle switch on the body.

What is the light like?

It is 4000K cool white, a clean daylight-leaning tone that shows detail and colour clearly. Warmer 2700K and 3000K versions, and a cooler 6000K, are made in this range if you prefer a different mood.

Can it go in a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms only, away from splashes and weather.

How should I keep it clean?

A dry, soft cloth over the brass now and then is all it asks. Switch it off first and let the capsules cool, and skip any polish or cleaning spray on the finish.
