Description

A slim horizontal bar that throws its light down the wall, 60cm wide and holding four G9 capsules along its length. The output is warm white, easy on plaster and paper, and it will dim smoothly with a compatible dimmer when the room wants less. A toggle switch sits on the body, so the light can be turned on and off at the fitting itself rather than from across the room.

This is the shape we would choose over a wide canvas or a row of framed prints, where one long wash covers the picture more evenly than a single downward spot. It works just as well above a headboard for reading, over a console in a hallway, or along a landing wall that needs light without anything hanging into head height. The dimming is what makes it flexible: bright enough for looking properly at a painting, and low enough to read as background light once the main lights are off. Anyone hanging art in a room with low ceilings will get on with it.

The finish is satin black, dark and quiet enough that the fitting reads as a line rather than an object, which is usually what you want above artwork. Keep it looking right with an occasional dust and a wipe from a dry cloth along the top edge, where a fitting of this shape tends to collect it, and leave the switch and the capsules alone until the light is cold. G9 capsules are supplied with it. It carries a one year warranty.
