Description

A slim horizontal bar in antique brass, 60cm across, with four G9 capsules set along its length to wash light down and out into the room. The tone is 2700K, the warmer end of white, which keeps oils, prints and framed photographs reading as they should rather than cooling them off. A toggle switch sits on the body, so it can be worked by hand at the fitting, and it will dim with a compatible dimmer; the dimmer itself is a separate purchase.

We would put it above a wide canvas or a run of frames, over a chimney breast, or along a hallway where the wall is the thing you notice. The spread suits long pictures better than square ones, and turned low it works as quiet background light in a sitting room or a study once the main lamps are off. It is happiest in dry rooms indoors on the household mains, so a landing, dining room or bedroom rather than a shower room or an open porch.

The finish is a softened, aged brass that sits well with older woodwork and gilt frames, and it looks less clinical than a bright metal against a coloured wall. Keep it clean with a dry duster along the bar; if fingerprints show, a barely damp cloth and a dry buff will do, and polishes and sprays are best kept away from the finish. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same bar in satin nickel and satin black, and in a shorter length for narrower frames, so a pair of rooms can be treated the same way at different widths. Lamps are supplied with it.
