Description

Four G9 capsule lamps sit in a line along a slim satin nickel body, spreading light evenly across a wide span rather than pooling it in one place. At 60cm across it is the longer size in the Abacus range, with a shallow projection that keeps it tight to the wall. A toggle switch on the fitting itself means you can work it on the spot, handy in a room where the nearest switch is over by the door.

We think of this as a picture light first: set above a large canvas or a framed print, the row of lamps washes the surface without leaving bright patches. It also earns its place over a long mirror, along a hallway where a pendant would be in the way, or above a sideboard in a dining room. The level can be taken down for the evening if you choose dimmable capsules and run them from a compatible dimmer. We would fit warm white LED capsules here and think no further about it.

The satin nickel has a soft, low sheen that sits quietly against pale walls and darker paint alike. Dust it with a dry duster now and then, with the power off and the capsules cold; sprays and metal polish only dull the finish, so leave them in the cupboard. It carries a one year warranty. Keep it to indoor rooms and away from bathrooms or anywhere steam and damp collect. We stock the same fitting in antique brass and satin black, and there is a shorter two light version if you want something smaller either side of a chimney breast or in a narrow alcove. Lamps are not included.
