Description

A long, low line of light for the wall: satin black from end to end, with four G9 lamp positions spaced evenly along a slim bar and a toggle switch built into the body, so it can be worked by hand where there is no switch nearby. At 60cm wide it reads as a horizontal stroke rather than a shape, and it stands only a little clear of the wall. It is one we reach for when a picture wants light and a spotlight would be too hard.

Its natural home is above artwork, a long mirror or a sideboard, where the row of lamps covers a wide frame evenly. It also works in a hallway, over a console table, or above a headboard where a pendant would hang too low. We would fit warm white LED capsules here; if you want the light on a dimmer, choose dimmable capsules to match. Earthed and made for dry rooms indoors, it belongs in sitting rooms, halls and bedrooms rather than bathrooms or anywhere that sees steam.

The bar is finished in satin black with a soft, even sheen that hides fingermarks better than gloss and settles quietly against both pale and dark walls. Keep it clean with an occasional pass of a dry duster along the top edge, with the power off and the capsules cold before you touch them; no sprays or solvents on the finish. It carries a one year warranty, and lamps are not included. The same design runs in satin nickel and antique brass if black is too firm a line for the room, and in a shorter width for a smaller frame.
