Description

This 80m Cat5e Ethernet cable from ESP arrives pre-terminated with RJ45 connectors at both ends, eliminating the need for on-site crimping when installing outdoor IP cameras. The cable uses twisted 4-pair copper wiring in a polyethylene jacket rated for external applications, protecting the conductors from UV exposure, moisture ingress and temperature fluctuation in outdoor environments.

Designed for CCTV and IP camera installations where the camera position is 70-80m from the network switch or PoE injector, the cable suits perimeter surveillance, car park monitoring and garden camera placement in residential and commercial properties. The 80m fixed length cannot be extended without joining, so measure the required run before ordering to avoid excess cable or the need for splicing.

The polyethylene outer jacket provides greater resistance to UV degradation and water ingress than standard PVC-jacketed Cat5e intended for indoor use, making this cable suitable for external runs clipped to walls, threaded through conduit, or buried in shallow ducts. The cable weighs 2.6kg and arrives coiled in a 250mm square packaging footprint, compact enough for van storage on installation jobs.

The polyethylene jacket provides better moisture resistance than indoor PVC cable, but for direct burial ESP recommend housing the cable in conduit or plastic ducting to protect against mechanical damage from stones and ground movement.

Cat5e supports up to 1000 Mbps (1 Gigabit) Ethernet at distances up to 100m, which covers this 80m cable length with margin. This bandwidth handles most IP camera resolutions including 4K streams.

Can the cable be cut and re-terminated to a shorter length?

Yes, but you will need an RJ45 crimping tool and replacement connectors. The pre-terminated ends are moulded connectors that cannot be reused once removed.
