7W IP54 Dimmable 5700K Daylight Downlight - Brushed Nickel

A 7W recessed downlight with the LED built into the body, so there is no separate lamp to buy now or replace later. It draws 7W and gives 460 lumens at 5700K, a crisp blue-white daylight tone rather than a warm yellow one, spread over a wide 90 degree beam. The lens sits flush and diffused inside a round brushed nickel bezel, with a finned body behind it to carry heat away from the LED and sprung clips either side that hold it up against the plasterboard. A separate LED driver is supplied with it.

Daylight at 5700K is a working light. It keeps whites looking white and picks out detail, which makes it a sensible choice above a kitchen worktop, in a utility room, over a bathroom mirror or in a garage or home office where you want to see clearly rather than wind down. The IP54 rating covers it against splashing water, and it is rated for zones 2 and 3 only, so keep it away from directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure. A run of several across a ceiling gives even light with few shadows, thanks to the 90 degree spread.

It is dimmable, which is useful if the room doubles as somewhere to relax. Dimming any LED load works best on a dimmer rated for LED, since 7W sits far below the minimum load an older dimmer built for filament lamps expects. The LED is rated at 25,000 hours. It is sold singly with a minimum order of one, so you can buy exactly the number of openings you have. What size opening does it need?

The manufacturer does not state a cut-out size for this model, so measure your existing openings and ask us before ordering if you are replacing fittings one for one.

Do I need to buy a bulb as well?

No. The LED is built into the fitting and is not removable, so there is nothing to buy separately and nothing to change later.

Will it work on my existing dimmer?

It is dimmable, but at 7W it sits well under the minimum load of older dimmers made for filament lamps, so use a dimmer rated for LED loads.

Can I fit this in a bathroom?

Yes, within zones 2 and 3, which covers a ceiling away from the bath or shower. It is not rated for zone 1 or zone 0 positions.

What does 5700K actually look like?

It is a cool blue-white daylight tone that keeps colours honest and detail sharp, so it reads as bright and functional rather than soft and cosy.

Where does the driver go?

The supplied driver connects between the mains and the fitting and sits in the ceiling void beside it, so allow room above the opening for it.
