Description
The Knightsbridge BATS6EMH is a 1790mm LED emergency batten delivering 6475lm at 4000K cool white from an integrated 60W LED module. The fitting combines pressed steel construction with an opal polycarbonate diffuser, achieving 149lm/W efficacy and offering maintained, non-maintained, or switched emergency operation. The emergency function provides 225lm output during mains failure, with selectable operating modes to suit different building regulations.
Designed for commercial, industrial, and institutional installations requiring both general lighting and emergency backup, the batten mounts on standard 600mm centres and is BESA box compatible. A hinged gear tray gives access to push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals without removing the fitting from the ceiling, while rear and end conduit fixings suit both surface and suspended installation. The 150° beam angle provides wide, even light distribution across open-plan offices, corridors, workshops, and plant rooms.
The pressed steel body and opal diffuser give a clean white finish that sits flush to ceilings with a 71mm projection. The Class I rating requires earth connection. The constant current LED driver is rated for 50,000 hours L70B50 life, delivering long service intervals and low maintenance cost compared to fluorescent batten replacements. The emergency battery (warranty excluded) is housed within the gear tray and accessible for replacement without disturbing the mains wiring.

Frequently Asked
What emergency modes are available?
The batten supports maintained, non-maintained, and switched emergency operation. Maintained mode keeps the emergency LEDs on continuously. Non-maintained mode activates emergency LEDs only during mains failure. Switched mode allows the emergency function to be controlled separately from the main lighting circuit. The mode is selectable during installation.
How is the emergency battery accessed?
The battery is housed within the hinged gear tray. The tray opens downward without removing the batten from the ceiling, allowing battery replacement without disturbing the mains wiring. The battery is excluded from the 5-year warranty and typically requires replacement every 3-4 years depending on test frequency and duty cycle.
Is it suitable for replacing fluorescent battens?
Yes. The 1790mm length and 600mm mounting centres match standard 6ft fluorescent batten dimensions. Rear and end conduit fixings accept existing cable runs. The push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals allow daisy-chaining multiple fittings on a single circuit, replicating typical fluorescent batten installation.
What ceiling height does it suit?
The 6475lm output and 150° beam angle suit ceiling heights of 2.4-4m in open-plan spaces. Higher ceilings may require multiple battens spaced at closer intervals to maintain adequate lux levels on the working plane.
