Description
The Knightsbridge 6ft emergency LED batten combines CCT switching across three colour temperatures (3000K, 4000K, 5700K) with dual wattage selection (27W or 52W) via switches behind the hinged gear tray. At 4000K the 27W setting delivers 4,170 lumens and the 52W setting delivers 7,520 lumens, giving two brightness levels from a single fitting. The self-test emergency module runs automatic function and duration tests without manual intervention, maintaining compliance with BS 5266-1 in commercial and institutional buildings.
Designed to replace conventional fluorescent batten fixtures in offices, retail back-of-house, educational buildings, stairwells, corridors and service areas, the 1790mm length fits standard 600mm fixing centres and is compatible with BESA back boxes. The pressed steel body and opal polycarbonate diffuser provide IP20 protection, suitable for dry indoor locations. Push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals allow multiple battens to be chained without junction boxes, and the hinged gear tray gives access to the wiring chamber, emergency module and adjustment switches without removing the batten from the ceiling.
The rear and end conduit fixing points accept M20 conduit entries for surface wiring in commercial installations. In emergency mode the batten provides 310 lumens output for three hours in maintained, non-maintained or switched configurations, selectable via a switch on the emergency module. The 145° beam angle delivers even light distribution across ceiling-mounted or suspended applications. The white finish blends into standard commercial ceiling grids and painted ceilings.
The LED module is rated for 60,000 hours to L70B50 (70% of initial output, with 50% of the population reaching that threshold), which equates to approximately 13 years under typical commercial use (12 hours per day). The fitting carries a 5-year warranty excluding the battery, which is a replaceable component within the emergency module.

Frequently Asked
How do I change the CCT or wattage settings?
Both settings are adjusted via switches located behind the hinged gear tray. Open the tray to access the switches, select the desired CCT (3000K, 4000K or 5700K) and wattage (27W or 52W), then close the tray. The changes take effect immediately when the batten is powered on.
What emergency modes does it support?
The self-test emergency module can be configured for maintained (always on), non-maintained (only on during mains failure) or switched (manually controlled, with emergency override) operation. The mode is selected via a switch on the emergency module itself.
Can multiple battens be chained together?
Yes. Push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals allow multiple battens to be wired in series without needing separate junction boxes. The terminals accept standard single-core flex and are accessible through the hinged gear tray.
Is it suitable for damp locations like bathrooms or outdoor use?
No. The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, plant rooms, covered outdoor areas or other damp environments, a higher IP-rated fitting is required.
