Description

The Knightsbridge BLED5SW is a 5W LED recessed brick light rated IP54 for outdoor wall installation. The die-cast aluminium body houses an integrated 5W LED module behind an opal glass diffuser, producing 110 lumens of 3500K neutral white light through a 150° beam angle. The fitting ships with two interchangeable faceplates — one plain brushed steel bezel and one louvred grille bezel — allowing the appearance to be changed on site depending on the installation context.

Designed for recessing into external masonry walls, brick pillars, boundary walls and garden steps, the fitting requires a cut-out aperture of 226mm wide by 86mm high by 70mm deep. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the light suitable for positions exposed to rain but not direct water jets or submersion. The shallow 70mm recessed depth suits standard single-brick-width walls and allows installation where cavity depth is limited.

The brushed steel fascia is manufactured from 201 stainless steel, giving corrosion resistance in coastal and high-moisture environments. The die-cast aluminium body provides structural strength and heat dissipation for the LED module, which is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50 (the point at which 50% of lamps retain 70% of initial output). The 3500K colour temperature sits between warm white and daylight, providing enough colour fidelity (CRI >80) to distinguish natural material tones without the yellow cast of warmer LEDs.

The fitting operates on 230V mains and is not dimmable. The plain faceplate provides even light distribution across the full aperture, while the grille faceplate directs light downward in horizontal bands, reducing glare when the fitting is positioned at eye level on steps or low boundary walls.

The fitting requires a cut-out aperture of 226mm wide by 86mm high by 70mm deep. This suits standard single-brick-width walls (typically 102mm) and most cavity wall constructions where the external leaf provides at least 70mm clear depth behind the masonry face.

Can this be used in bathrooms or covered outdoor areas?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, eaves and bathroom zones outside the direct shower spray area. It is not rated for submersion or direct high-pressure water jets.

What's the difference between the plain and grille faceplates?

The plain faceplate allows even light distribution across the full aperture. The grille faceplate directs light downward through horizontal slots, reducing upward glare when the fitting is installed at eye level on steps, low walls or pathways. Both faceplates are included and can be swapped during installation.

Is the LED replaceable?
